WHY SOLAR POWER IN AFRICA?

Afrique Schema Uk

WE FINANCE AFRICAN RENEWABLE ENERGY DEVELOPMENT

The Group develops, finances, and operates international solar and hydro power plants. Smart Energies supports foreign developers or investors at each stage of their projects.

Smart Energies' action covers three areas: rural electrification through the development of mini-grids, self consumption and development of renewable energies on a larger scale.

Public or private off-takers

Solar power: from 1 to 50 MWc
Hydropower: from 100 kWp to 10 MWp

Technologies

Large-scale plants

DEVELOPMENT AND FUNDING OF GROUND- MOUNTED PV POWER PLANTS AND HYDRO POWER PLANTS

To contribute to national energy independence and provide great access to green electricity

Actions

Smart Energies develops, finances and operates PV solar and hydro plants in Africa, working side by side with local stakeholders and contracting Power Purchase Agreements with national electricity companies or private companies.

Commercial and industrial customers (C&I)

From 100kWp to 10 MWp

Technologies

Self-consumption

DEVELOPMENT AND FUNDING OF SOLAR POWER PLANTS ON ROOFS OR ON THE GROUND

To meet a need for a minimum supply during the day and compensate for a low reliability of the electricity network, or an excessively high cost of operating and maintaining generators.

Actions

Smart Energies offers self-consumption projects for customers who need small capacities, a project size on which Smart Energies is able to intervene with 100% equity financing solutions. This offer can also be combined with power, storage or a hybrid generator, to improve the supply.

Local entrepreneurs and communities

Up to 100 kWc

Technologies

Rural electrification

DEVELOPMENT OF MINI-GRIDS

To promote decentralized energy and access to energy in remote areas.

Actions

Smart Energies develops, finances and operates solar mini-grids projects including power generation, storage, transmission and distribution, to address community needs and intermittent issues.
